SEYMOURE Italian Nylon Ceremony Collection | The Earth She Wears It, Beauty & Sustainability

This Earth Day, SEYMOURE celebrates the patented Italian knit nylon at the heart of our most beloved Ceremony Collection. A fabric discovered for its beauty, and certified sustainable to its core - so soft, so luminous, so exclusively ours that it changed everything we believed a glove could be. Beauty has always carried a responsibility - to the hands that make it, to the woman who wears it, and to the world in which both of them live. At SEYMOURE, this responsibility is not a constraint placed upon beauty. It is the foundation from which beauty grows.

The Story Behind the Fabric

The Italian knit nylon at the heart of our Ceremony Collection is made from sustainably produced knit nylon by one of Europe's most innovative and committed mill partners - a relationship SEYMOURE protects deeply, because what we have built together is rare, and rare things deserve care.

This mill has been building its sustainable production program long before responsibility became a language that fashion remembered to speak. Their fabric carries the Global Recycle Standard certification, independently verified across the entire production chain. They are also the first Italian textile company to earn the Made Green in Italy certification - measured across sixteen environmental categories.

There is a belief behind all of this that SEYMOURE holds alongside its mill partner - and that has guided every glove we have ever made with this nylon:

"The future belongs to everyone. Preserving it is a duty that every business has toward the world. Developing a more responsible production model is not plainly necessary - it is an investment for tomorrow."

She deserves beautiful things. The earth that holds her deserves them too. On Earth Day, these two truths are the same truth.

The Italian Knit Nylon Fabric

It began, as the best discoveries always do, with a relationship - a conversation that opened a door we had not known existed. Behind that door was an Italian knit nylon unlike any we had encountered. Patented. Exclusive to SEYMOURE in the glove world, because no one else saw in it what we saw.

What we saw was this: a nylon so soft that the hand forgets it is wearing something at all. A fabric that moves the way skin moves - following every gesture, every reach, every quiet moment of a hand at rest. It breathes. It yields. It holds. And in holding, it does something remarkable: it makes every hand it touches look beautifully, effortlessly slim.

She does not have to think about it. She puts the glove on and looks down and simply knows.

The color stays. Season after season, washing after washing, the Italian knit nylon holds its hue with the kind of fidelity that speaks of quality at the deepest level. The tangerine remains luminous. The raspberry remains rich. The ivory remains pure. These are not shades that fade into approximations of themselves - they are colors that mean what they say, for as long as the glove is worn.

This is the fabric. This is where everything begins.

The SEYMOURE Italian Nylon Glove Collection

A fabric of this distinction deserves to be worked with equal distinction. Every glove in our nylon collection is individually table-cut by a couturier - a technique inherited from the great gloving houses that have hand-cut gloves for couture houses for over eleven centuries. Each panel of each glove - the palm, the dorsum, the fourchettes between the fingers - is traced and cut by hand, with the couturier reading the natural elasticity of the Italian knit nylon to understand it deeply enough to bring something true from it.

The result is a glove that does not sit on the hand. It converses with it.

From this foundation, SEYMOURE has built four glove styles and three distinct embellishment languages - each one a different answer to the question of what this extraordinary fabric can become.

We've printed on it. We've embellished it with pearls. We've hand-set crystals, one by one. We've made it in four lengths.

Because she is not one woman on one evening, this fabric is generous enough to follow her to all of them.

The Styles

The Extended Nylon Runway Opera Glove extends nineteen uninterrupted inches from wrist to bicep - pure silhouette, in every color. In its Ceremony Collection form, pearls are hand-placed along the wrist and forearm, and the result is something that does not simply accompany the most important moments of a woman's life. It honors them.

The Grace Glove is mid-length, hand-set with crystals that catch light at their own angle, in their own moment. It comes in a range of colors. It dresses up and dresses down without ever changing what it fundamentally is. It is, at SEYMOURE, a deeply personal favorite.

The Leigh Sleeve is a fingerless Italian knit nylon opera sleeve - extended, sleek, and entirely its own idea. Against a strapless dress or a spaghetti strap, it is the piece that makes the whole look composed rather than assembled. It comes in tangerine, raspberry, and turmeric - colors that belong to an evening she has decided is hers.

The Nylon Gallery Glove is wrist-length - the most distilled expression of what this Italian knit nylon can do. It makes the hand look beautiful. It makes whatever she is wearing look considered. It reads as sweet. It reads as professional. It reads as whatever she needs it to be.

Table cutting is a couture glove-making technique in which each panel of the glove is individually traced and cut by hand on a flat worktable. Practiced for over eleven centuries by the great gloving houses of Millau, France - including Causse, Lavabre Cadet, and Maison Fabre - it produces a glove that conforms to the unique shape of the hand rather than simply sitting upon it. At SEYMOURE, every nylon glove is individually table-cut by a couturier.
